About the Piece

While I was stationed in Germany at Lindsey Air Station, Metallica played a show downtown during the Black Album era.

It was the first big show I got to see while living in Germany.

For the life of me, I cannot remember the guy I went with. Which is pretty terrible considering years later I actually helped him move and even lived with him for a few months after his wife suddenly left him.

But I remember the show.

It was absolutely insane.

After the concert we went into a small bar right across the street from the venue. About fifteen minutes later, the door opens… and Metallica walks in.

Just like that.

One of those moments you never forget.

So this piece is my take on James Hetfield from that era — raw energy, rain, sweat, and pure metal.

Well…

Here’s James. 🤘🏼
