About the Piece
Timber Joey might be one of the most unforgettable traditions in sports.
Nothing screams “look at me” quite like a full-on lumberjack standing at a soccer game, firing up a chainsaw and cutting a slab off a log every time the Timbers score. It’s loud, it’s ridiculous, and it’s completely perfect for Portland.
But like most things I do, I couldn’t leave it alone.
I had to push it a little further.
So instead of just a guy cutting a log, I imagined Timber Joey as an absolute beast. A full-on lumberjack warrior. The kind of guy who would throw the entire log over his shoulder like Arnold in an old action movie, rev the chainsaw, and yell like a barbarian celebrating another Timbers goal.
And that’s where this piece came from.
Big energy. Big noise. Big Portland.
Just the way it should be.
